The OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2026-2035 projects world meat consumption rising by about 44 million tonnes over the decade, from the 2023 to 2025 average. Poultry accounts for 29 of those tonnes, or 65 percent. Beef and veal add 6, pig meat 6, sheep meat 3.
Poultry's own growth rate, 20 percent, is also the highest of the four. By 2035 it reaches 177 million tonnes and 43 percent of all meat eaten in the world.
For boards and investors the implication is direct. The incremental protein market of the next ten years is a poultry market, and most of that increment lands in Asia and Africa, where per capita consumption is still a fraction of the levels seen in the Americas.
